WeCare – Assistive Technology Integration
and Digital Skills Training for Caregivers

weCare is a 24-month project aimed at improving the quality of elderly care through digital skills training and the integration of assistive technologies. The project addresses the growing gap in digital literacy among caregivers and the increasing demand for tech-supported care for elderly and disabled individuals.

We participate as a partner organisation, contributing our expertise in home care services, leading the research and needs analysis phase, and co-developing training materials. We also participate in pilot and training sessions for caregivers in Greece, covering four key topics: basic digital skills, introduction to IoT (Internet of Things), wearable devices such as smartwatches and SPO2 sensors for health monitoring, and safety and security in digital caregiving.

The project will result in a comprehensive training programme available in both Greek and English, as well as a free online learning platform accessible across the EU.

DiGi-SEII

DiGi-SEII supports social enterprises and social enterprise support organisations in addressing their growth and scaling challenges, where the digital sector plays an increasingly important role. The programme offers a space to explore digital topics, clarify priorities and strengthen orientation, so that organisations can make informed decisions about how digital approaches can support their next steps.

Within the programme, we participated in live training sessions (in-person and online), short reflection moments (Learning Check-Ins), and self-paced learning through the ICARUS platform (asynchronous e-learning courses).

This call is implemented by a consortium consisting of Euclid Network, Reach for Change Foundation, ScaleChanger, ESSEC Business School, Social Economy Ukraine, EIT Digital, Sociale Innovatiefabriek and Entrepreneurship Academy, under the DiGi-SEII project, co-funded by the SMP-COSME-2023-SEED programme of the European Union.

Integrated Home-Based Care Models
for Vulnerable Populations

Finished Project

We had the pleasure of hosting representatives from CONCORDIA, LONGEVITA and ONCO PILOT ASSOCIATION from Romania on 19 and 20 May 2026, under an Erasmus+ learning mobility programme for Adult Education.

The visit centred around a job shadowing programme titled “Integrated Home-Based Care Models for Vulnerable Populations”. The aim was to exchange knowledge, experiences and good practices around the provision of home care services and support for people belonging to vulnerable social groups.

During the two-day programme, the participants got to know OIKANOS and the specialised services it provides for the care of elderly people, support for people with disabilities, and assistance for individuals who need help in their daily lives to maintain their autonomy and quality of life.

Through presentations, field visits and meetings with health and social care professionals, the Romanian representatives had the opportunity to observe first-hand how integrated home care services are designed and delivered.

Discussions around person-centred approaches, interdisciplinary collaboration and the empowerment of service users were particularly valuable. Participants also exchanged experiences on the national social care systems of Greece and Romania, highlighting shared challenges as well as new opportunities for development and social innovation.

DigitalHealthUptake

Finished Project

Within the European DHU Twinning Cognilearn project, OIKANOS SOCIAL COOPERATIVE ENTERPRISE collaborated with Materia Group through two workshops to promote digital transformation in cognitive care. The first workshop was online, and the second was in person at Materia Group’s advanced facilities in Nicosia. The training focused on the “RememberMe” digital program, which helps assess, record, and treat cognitive decline. This program allows continuous monitoring of patients by doctors or family members using specialized tests, quizzes, and games. The use of tablets and the “James” robot made the training engaging and interactive, enhancing the care experience for beneficiaries. The ease of use, immediate communication, and automated patient history recording support OIKANOS’s digital modernization goals. This collaboration exemplifies OIKANOS’s commitment to sharing and adopting best practices for continuous improvement. We thank all participants for their hospitality and knowledge-sharing and anticipate future collaborations.

Health Care 4.0. goes Mobile

Finished Project

Care facilities are increasingly willing to employ qualified personnel from abroad who require a minimum language competence level of B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Experiences in everyday work show that this language level is often not sufficient, especially where the language has been acquired in a generic way and not tailor made to the future working place, namely the health sector. More specifically, health care institutions who employ newly arrived migrant nurses see work related language skills gaps, cultural differences and social barriers, as well as work related skills gaps due to differing requirements in new home countries.

Our HEALTH CARE 4.0 Curriculum highlights skills, competences and knowledge for migrant nurses and existing similarities for the second target group, migrant care helpers. It is used as the basis to engage in the development of the Health Care 4.0. Mobile App, and its audio-visual learning material.

Health Care 4.0 (2020 - 2021)

Finished Project

Care facilities are increasingly willing to employ qualified personnel from abroad who require a minimum language competence level of B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Experiences in everyday work show that this language level is often not sufficient, especially where the language has been acquired in a generic way and not tailor made to the future working place, namely the health sector.
